The cornea is the clear dome of tissue in the front of the eye. It is comprised of multiple layers and allows the light to bend and enter the eye. The cornea has numerous properties that are important to sight and health of the eye. The size, shape, depth, thickness and curvature all determine the potential visual acuity for patients. It is also the anatomical location of the eye that undergoes multiple types of cosmetic surgery to reduce dependence upon contact lenses and glasses.
